Our Professional Development Programmes
Professional development and good practice are at the very centre of the Association’s objectives. Each year, the professional development element of our programme is geared to respond to the needs of people working at different stages in their careers.
In addition to the wide range of seminars, the MPA offers its membership a number of professional development opportunities: |
| The Rising Stars seminars are 2 day residential events aimed at talented people in member organisations who are on track for responsible positions in management. The programme focuses on:
- Analysis of key issues affecting major projects
- Attitudes and ways of thinking
- Establishing effective relationships with clients and professionals
- Marshalling and presenting opinions
- Establishing a network of contacts with high flyers in other MPA member organisations
- Building business confidence
| The Major Projects Simulator has been designed to help members in the training of their project managers and brings to life many of the universal challenges of major projects. It requires teams to make decisions in several key areas including:
- Clarifying and refining the project objectives
- Scope definition and changes
- Contract and procurement strategy
- Risk management
- Stakeholder management
- Defining and measuring project success
The Challenge of Major Projects is a week long course which is run once a year. It always attracts a varied and high powered group who benefit from the course material presented by a team of experts and also from their own intense interaction during the week. The charge for the course is not included in the annual member's subscription.
