The operational implications in projects of alternative procurement methods

Haldane Room (North Cloister), UCL, London, WC1E 6BT

Alex Murray is the 2012 beneficiary of the Major Projects Association PhD Grant in support of his work in the area of alternative procurement methods. Based at the UCL Bartlett School of Construction and Project Management (BSCPM) Alex has been part of on-going research concerning the implications of alternative forms of contracting of construction and maintenance of social infrastructure on the operational phase of projects. This research has progressed from initial theoretical assumptions concerning the impacts of integrating Design, Build and Operations, through to qualitative assessments of on-going projects and more recently objective modelling of samples of project cost and performance metrics.

During the evening Alex will present grounded theory and results from each of these stages and there will be time for guests to discuss the issues and implications for future projects. The presentations will be followed by a dinner to allow discussion of the issues to continue.
