Welcome to the Major Projects Association

We recently held our Autumn Board meeting at which we said farewell to one of our longest serving Directors – Dr Martin Barnes CBE. Martin was first appointed to the Board back in 1997 and, with the exception of 2006-2007, he has been a Director ever since. It’s hopefully true that any successful organisation is bigger than a single individual; that said, it would be difficult to pinpoint anyone who has contributed more to the world of major projects or to the Major Projects Association than Dr Barnes. One of his most recent major achievements is his leadership of and contribution to our interactive major projects simulation. This truly excellent product can, in a single day, transform both an individual’s and a team’s understanding of the issues involved in major project management. I strongly encourage anyone who reads this to take a look at the information provided elsewhere on this website and to attend one of the excellent simulation workshops.

The purpose of the Major Projects Association is to improve the initiation and delivery of major projects through the interaction of members from all sectors in sharing experience, knowledge and ideas.

To improve the delivery of major projects it is necessary to learn from past mistakes and from one another. Therefore we record all of our seminars – the presentations from speakers and contributions from delegates – to create detailed pdf reports of these events.
